Use password generator apps to generate unique and strong passwords. Online teaching and learning poses new information security risks<\/strong>. DTDA recommends that community members follow these best practices when engaging in remote activities to help reduce the chances of the information and data you manage at UVT being compromised. <\/p>\n – Make sure your devices<\/strong> are running new operating systems (eg Windows 10, macOS 10.15 or newer) and that all updates have been applied.<\/p>\n – When exchanging high-risk<\/strong> (eg sensitive or personal) information via email (eg birth certificates, loan applications), be sure to protect it by encrypting files before sharing.<\/p>\n – Use UVT approved and licensed enterprise video conferencing tools<\/strong> such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Webex that provide protection for your security and privacy and follow suggested security best practices. <\/p>\n – If accessing UVT systems from remote locations<\/strong>, securely configure the remote connection with encryption and multi-factor authentication, and use VPN.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t Phishing emails and email scams<\/strong> continue to be an effective way for scammers to steal credentials, install malware, or extort cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n Many of these emails are directed<\/strong> to a specific department or individual and may appear to be from someone you know or do business with. There has been an increase in malicious attacks to take advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic. <\/p>\n Be especially wary of phishing attacks<\/strong> and also of scams that try to trick you into donating to fraudulent organizations or causes or revealing sensitive information.
